So, let’s discuss some shit that’s pissing me off

OK, so I’m new. I understand. Not supposed to ask questions. But I ask you this people: What the hell is up with these streets? I mean, they can take the things apart, rip um up and spit them out but can they repave!? Is it just me or is this completely insane. How long do I have to wait unti lI can ride my bike on Winchester and not feel like I’m going to pitch over and die, choking on dust and having a boulder hit my head!? It’s been like four weeks.
Also, what’s up with the street cleaning around here? I got a $50 ticket a while ago, because they put a sign up the day before and then ticketed everyone. Ever heard of alternate side parking? It means a sign that tells you when to move your car. This isn’t like laser etching someone’s name on a rice kernel! I call the city’s Department of Revenue (in any other city, I think it would be Dept. of Parking and Traffic or something at least let’s pretend this isn’t just a money maker for the city here!) and I get transfered all around until finally I get to signs and sanitation. They tell me, I have to call my alderman to find out the street cleaning sched. What the hell is this about! I have to talk to my elected representative to get the street cleaning schedule!? And I say, hey have you ever heard of alternate side parking, like in other cities with signs that tell you when the street cleaners are coming. And they just LAUGH at me! WTF!
Finally, what’s up with recycling? How can Chicago, the third or fourth largest city in the USofA (NY, LA DC? then Chicago?) have a recycling program that consists of throwing blue bags into the backs of garbage trucks where they get crushed with trash and we’re supposed to buy the story that some guy fishes it out on the other end and makes sure the coke bottles don’t get tossed? I mean, it’s so obviously BS. Does anyone actually believe this!? And how much money is spent on this crap?? Are we just padding Daley’s friends or what?
OK, venting over… but I’m still pissed.

Meh, don’t rely upon the street sweeping signs being up 2 days prior. I know in my neighborhood, they pop up around 4pm the day before. Not really a lot of time, but you get used to it fast. I’ve lived downtown for 4 years, with no parking tickets to my name.
Ya, and the street work? It’s endearing. Endearing like a little kid who tears the house apart.

Recycling anywhere is a load of shit and a way to create BS jobs and for people to make more money. It’s utter bullshit. And if you’re sick of street work already you might want to find a new city :-) I lived there for 8 years and it’s just something you have to learn to live with. It’s like death and taxes.

There are always orange signs on trees and poles at least two days before street cleaning in Chicago.

If you want to see bad streets check out Detroit. Even the deaf dumb and blind know when they hit detroit (their teeth have been rattled out.)
