Pretend summer lasts longer…

… and go to the horse races at Arlington. The season ends on the 19th, and you should totally take advantage of it. Admission is only $6, and they make a damn good Bloody Mary. Even if you don’t like to gamble, it is still fun to look at all the horses and decide which one is prettiest. That is usually my strategy; bet on the prettiest horse or the one with the best colors.
And if you like to gamble, the races are an easy way to do so in moderation. With 20 minutes between each race, you can spend a whole afternoon there for $20. I went this past Sunday and won $62 on an exacta in the 3rd race. My sister won $52 on an exacta in the 8th race. And my little brother (who isn’t even old enough to legally gamble) picked 5 of the 8 winning horses in each race. His strategy was to pick a jockey (Christopher Emigh).
Regardless, it is a good time to sit in the sun, maybe win some money, and definitely get a little buzzed.
