Yup, its that time again. So if you like beer, saurkraut, more beer, sausages of all shapes and sizes, even more beer, Oompah bands, drunken Germans and German wannabes, then you should head over to Lincoln Square this weekend for the German American Fest. I’m sure there will be lots of meat products and alcoholic beverages to keep you interested.
There’s also a smaller Oktoberfest in Ukranian Village at 750 North Oakley this weekend (Saturday and Sunday only). I’m more likely to head over to this one, as the weirdness factor has the potential to be much higher. Smaller festivals are always much more interesting, particularly if you are into people watching as much as I am. Plus, this one has the added bonus of being very close to Empty Bottle, so if I get bored or if it closes to early, then I can just head over there and enjoy the best live music in the city.
Speaking of Empty Bottle, The Effigies are playing there tonight! Can you believe it? Do you even know who there are? Am I just pathetically old? I’ll just go sit in the corner now.
