Akira Kasai trained with the butoh originators and then broke of to develop his own methods and techniques based on butoh and some of his German peers. By the way, from still images you might think butoh is like some sort of 20th century kabuki, and it kind of is, but it also kind of isn’t. Maybe if you combined kabuki with enacting sex with a chicken by strangling it between your thighs.

He’s preforming on Saturday and Sunday. You can get tickets through ticketweb but if you’re an MCA member don’t bother becuase you can’t get the discount through ticketweb. You can also order by phone but there is a 3 dollar fee. So the box office is a good bet though it was really crowded so get there early (around/before 7PM).
