It’s like “A Christmas Story” without the Peking Duck

If you find yourself stuck this Christmas without a thing to do, you can head on over to Fiesta Mexicana on Lincoln and Fullerton. A long long long time ago, while I still lived in California, I came home over Christmas to show Mr. Man where we will soon be living. My family really only celebrates Christmas Eve and has a long standing tradition of eating a breakfast large enough to cause heart problems for a small country, putting together toys, and watching all the new DVDs on Christmas Day. This particular year, we decided to take a scenic drive to downtown (Lake Shore Drive / Sheridan the whole way from the north suburbs) and see all the sights. Around 5, we started to get hungry and could not find a single restaurant open in the Gold Coast. We headed up Lincoln and came upon Fiesta Mexicana. Oasis! Heaven! We can EAT!

So, instead of ham or turkey or other traditional accoutrements, we munched down on tacos and enchiladas and margaritas. It was absolutely fabulous, the staff was and always is overwhelmingly polite and courteous and, to date, it is one of my favorite Christmas memories. I just stopped by there last night for dinner, and still get all warm and fuzzy whenever I walk in the door. they might now sing “Jingle Bells”, but they will definitely make your Christmas a memorable one.
