Watch out Comcast and SBC, there may be a new kid on the block

City-wide blanket Wi-Fi access?!?!?!? If you are like me, that seems like a dream come true. I hate both SBC and Comcast for their internet service; one is far too slow and the other is far too expensive.

A post on Slahdot, referencing an article in The Trib, says that such a possibility may be in the works. No word on the cost or how it would work, but hopefully more information will come out after the 60 – 90 day test for feasability. Keep your fingers crossed.

Watch out for the legislature. The Illinois Senate’s received a telcom bill that’ll ban local wi-fi networks.
