Mondays and Wednesdays, I drive by this statue on my way to a group I run. I can’t really explain why I like it so much… Maybe because it’s not something that many people expect to see on the South Side. Anyway, this is picture number one.
That’s the statue in the park where 63rd splits off, right before you hit Lake Shore Drive, right? i love that statue. i drive past there all the time.
For the curious (like me) it’s a 24′ 1918 replica of a 65′ statue that stood in the Grand Basin at the 1893 Worlds’ Columbian Exposition. Jackson Park’s The Republic
