The lights are on…

So I turned on C-Span 2 this afternoon while at home here in Chicago (had to link this somehow), and watched in amazement as they did roll call on a vote to kill an amendment to a $290 billion highway bill and there was NOBODY THERE! Okay, I exaggerate, I think there were six Senators there. Is it always this way, or had they all fled the city in light of today’s little Cessna incident?

Nope, that’s completely normal; they’ll do a roll call, people are making deals in the corridor or in offices, and they run in, maek their vote and run out. Usually (sometimes they are weirdly absent, due to campaining and the like, or sheer laziness).
