Reviews of Random Venues in Less Than Ten Words
Have some snap judgements. They may not necessarily apply to you. Feel free to disagree, but remember I don’t give two figs.
Empty Bottle: within walking distance.
Vertigo: used to not suck.
Ten56: gone but not forgotten.
Innjoy: better damn well live up to ten56’s rep.
Phyllis’ Musical Inn: The Little Bar That Could.
Subterranean: expensive beer, overzealous bouncers, can’t spell their own name.
Double Door: expensive beer, good sound.
Big Horse: can’t mix a gin and tonic. I’m serious.
Bottom Lounge: on the red line.
Ice Factory: not a venue.
Spot 6: get your act together.
Metro: impossible parking and snobby staff
Pontiac: too many hipsters, and what’s with the cardboard wall?
Cal’s: no food open near it after 10pm.
Update:
Gunther Murphy’s: what? Free music on Saturday now? Gunthersaywhat?
Beat Kitchen: soon with better bands. And food? What a concept.
Oh yeah, add any missed places in the comments. Live music venues, not bars! That’d just be… overwhelming.
the cardboard at pontiac dampens the sound so it’s don’t sounfd like yer in a big ol’ garage.
and i love the place but obviously i’m biased…
the abbey feels like a cottage
schubas beautiful backroom
i figured the cardboard was for that but really – wtf? cardboard? i mean, i get it, they’re going for the hipster chic DIY look or something, but REALLY.
schuba’s – i can’t believe i forgot schuba’s. you know now that i think of it i forgot gunther murphy’s and the beat kitchen too. well, i wrote this on the fly.
abbey pub: good cheap prime rib sunday. awesome irish beer sampler.

too many jam bands. really nice staff.
The Mutiny: personal half-pitchers of Bud make bands sound better.
oh, and…
Silvie’s Lounge: bad sound pissed off T. Trouble; whither Rose Red Productions?
Hey, this is fun.
hey- didn’t laurie anderson play the vic last year? that’s no jam band
Betty’s Blue Star Lounge has live music on Thursdays’s now. Decent room, decent parking!
