Seeing as Oktoberfest traditionally starts in September, it is no surprise that May Fest in Lincoln Square is going on this weekend. In June. but it is not June Fest. That would be silly.

Although, to be fair, the “May” in May Fest probably refers to the maypole, which is traditionally used in German celebrations (as well as throughout Europe). The traditional maypole dance takes place on Sunday at 2pm.

The festival itself started last night (making my bike home a little tricky) and runs through Sunday night. Best of all, the event is free. But not the beer – you still have to pay for that.
