I dream gelato

If you have never been to Mario & Gino’s Ice Cream on Roscoe, you are missing out on something totally amazing. They serve some of the best gelato I have even had and it makes waiting for them to open extremely difficult. Mario & Gino’s is closed for the majority of the year, but it looks like they finally opened up this past weekend. And it’s about time; we have spent the last 3 weeks planning to go over there for a tasty treat, only to find their doors closed.

While you’re at it, you should check out the rest of the yummy goodness this little stretch of Roscoe has to offer. Centerstage has a quick rundown of places within 2-3 block of each other, many of which are some of my favorite places to eat.

I’m really glad M&G’s is open for the season. It’s in our neighborhood and along a common walking path for us. FYI, they serve their gelato from two different manufacturers. “Ciao Bella” (for their “premium” gelatos) and “al Gelato”. Ciao Bella is available in stores, but I much prefer the “al Gelato” varieties, partially because their a local (Franklin Park) company.

    Enjoy!
