The Blog is Mightier than the Sword

Maybe I’m late coming to this and you all know about the Broken Heart of Morse Avenue, but, just in case you don’t, it’s quite possibly the best blog I’ve ever read.

Armed with little more than a digital camera, guts, and Blogger, a guy who posts as “Craig” takes on Rogers Park drug dealers, aldermen, greedy development corporations, and, as in the photo above, a rude squatter overlooked by a slumlord owner. No one’s immune if they’re contributing to the crime and decline of Morse Avenue.

When that neighborhood finally comes clean and people feel safe walking their dogs and kids there, The Broken Heart and Blogger will be the ones to thank. Check it out.

when will you consider it clean?

when there’s no more “rude” squatters?

maybe you should just gas them?

Of course not. When the alderman and community leaders get their sh*t together and start taking care of people in need in their community. Squatting is a sure sign of inadequate housing, and quite possibly, inadequate mental health care. Whose fault is that? Local government. The community. Yours. Mine. Btw, nice e-mail address.

    Dear “no”:

Jennifer’s post is about community responsibility, not attacking the less fortunate. Instead of trying to get to the bottom of what she was writing, you come up with a juvenile url and three sentences full of misdirected snark. Not productive at all.

If you are going to write something, I would hope you would have the courage to sign your name to it.

The process goes on… we continue plumbing the depths for substantial and sustainable neighborhood improvements, while citizens bent on encouraging social responsibility take flak from the inconsiderate and materialistic majority.

Search for other Rogers Park (and Chicago’s 49th Ward) blog references at http://www.Forum49.org – save your flak for those who need to hear it, I mean… let Alderman Joseph Moore feel the love, one way or the other.
