Windy City Rollers
I almost forgot to mention here, I got the chance to see the Windy City Rollers Sunday night at the Congress Theater. They’ve been around for a year now, though this Sunday was the first official bout of the season. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it was a blast. If you want to see fast girls in sexy clothing pushing, shoving and clawing each other around a skating rink then I highly suggest showing up next August 13 14 for their birthday bash the seventieth anniversary of roller derby.
Update: Man, I must’ve been asleep when I wrote this.
Thanks for mentioning us, my friend! I am glad you enjoyed the show, and we look forward to seeing you at our next bout, on AUGUST 14TH!!!!
Slight correction: it is the 70th Anniversary of roller derby (which began in Chicago in 1935)–not to be confused with the Windy City Rollers b-day/founding!
Love, shoves, and derby…

just to kick it up a notch our next bout is named THE BIRTHDAY BASH to celebrate the very first bout held on august 13, 1935 @ the chicago collisium. in addition to our bout there are various activities throughout town to celebrate the fantastic piece of americana that leo a. seltezer created 70 years ago.
and much love, tom. thanks for the support and hope to see you at congress on august 14th! i’ll be back on skates this time…
