Chicago Outdoor Film Festival

Chicago Outdoor Film Festival

The Chicago Outdoor Film Festival starts tonight in Gtant Park with Citizen Kane at 8:59. The series runs every Tuesday night through August 23, with the start times getting earlier as the sun sets earlier. Which is what I really wanted to point out, as this is part of my occasional Ads of the CTA series (collect all… three).

Annie Hall, on July 19, starts exactly at 8:54. Approximately. Has no one in the Office of Special Events ever heard of rounding?

Here’s the complete series schedule:

Citizen Kane – July 12 – 8:59 pm
Annie Hall – July 19 – 8:54 pm
My Darling Clementine – July 26 – 8:48 pm
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial – Aug 2 – 8:39 pm
The Night of the Hunter – Aug 9 – 8:30 pm
The Hustler – Aug 16 – 8:20 pm
Star Wars – Aug 23 – 8:09 pm

The city has declared July 12, 2005 “Roger Ebert day” and the series is curated by Roger Ebert this year, so I’ve linked those movie titles to Ebert’s Great Movie reviews.

CTA ads always amaze me, but Metra…I saw an ad for Metra with this copy: “Being unsafe can last a lifetime.” What? Are you fucking kidding me? And it was over some pictures of clouds. There are too many things wrong with that to even begin.
