Happy Birthday Ida B. Wells!

Tomorrow one of my heroes, Ida B. Wells-Barnett, would have turned 143. She lived here for many years and died in 1931. She’s buried on the south side.

Born into slavery in Mississippi, she rose to become a widely-respected journalist and publisher, and a tireless fighter for justice. She was also one of the first career moms, crossing the country with a nursing child in the early late 19th century. She
