American Taliban, Chicago Branch Office

All 5 Republicans on the Cook County Board of Commissioners have removed their names from a proclamation welcoming the 2006 Gay Games to Chicago, reports the Trib.

Peter LaBarbera, from the Illinois Family Institute weighs in, and, predictably, serves up some red meat to his drooling constituency: “There’s a big difference between tolerating and celebrating homosexuality. For governments to be using taxpayer money and big corporations spending money to sponsor this, we think the average Joe sees that as being just a little bit off.”

In addition to the fact that these are simply the rantings of a homophobe, the TRUTH is that NO taxpayer money is being used to support the Games. Corporate sponsors such as Kraft and Harris Bank are footing the bill, and have themselves drawn the fire of groups like the IFI.

These assholes are worthy of nothing but our scorn and derision.

Inundate their offices with your calls, letters, faxes and e-mails.

Let them know Chicagoans will not tolerate their bigotry.

Just in case anyone is interested: Cook County Commissioners make approximately $80,000 a year. They meet one day a week every two weeks… I also believe that they all have additional jobs–especially Peraica. In addition to his law firm, he has a real estate company. Very well to do individual…
