(I’m sorry about the pictures–they were taken with my phone. And bear with me, this was my first tattoo.)

…Then I know the place for you. Insight Studios at 1026 N. Milwaukee Ave.

They also do piercings….but I didn’t get one of those.

Mike, on the left, is the guy who inked me. Friendly, clever and a perfectionist. He worked his butt off making sure that my tattoo looked just like the picture of the family crest I brought in. And it does. (As an aside, my brother has the same tattoo, but mine is significantly cooler.)

Bob, on he right, is the owner. His shop is the only shop in the city where all the artists are licensed to deal with blood-borne pathogens. He kept the shop open while Mike finished the tattoo.

The shop itself is incredibly clean. Each work station was spotless. I mean spotless. You could eat off their work stations–that or get a kick ass tattoo.

Hell, Mike took me through the entire tattoo procedure–he even opened the sterilized needles in front of me. I didn’t think they actually did that, but Mike did. That was classy.

So, if you’re thinking of getting a tattoo, or a piercing for that matter, you HAVE to check out Insight. The shop is clean and the artists rock.
