Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness
I have returned, relatively unscathed, from my adventure to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) of northern Minnesota- and what a trip it was! 5 days and 5 nights of camping, canoeing, fishing, exploring and partying with Rodes, my oldest, best friend in the world and his super cool girlfriend Brandi.
We caught plenty of smallmouth bass, walleye and northern pike, saw deer, ducks, bald eagles on the hunt, crawdads, insects of all stripes, cute (and persistent) little pack mice and toads with one of the coolest camo paint jobs Mother Nature ever cooked up.
We heard the prehistoric, eerie call of loons over a twilit lake. We portaged and paddled through 4 lakes (Clearwater, Caribou, Deer and Moon). We rose with the dawn and went to sleep under heavens aglow with the Perseid meteor showers.
I
that fuzzy yellow catepiller looks wicked!
Amazing photos nikkos.
Thanks! In all fairness, I must share credit for the photos with Rodes and Brandi- Rodes took all the close up critter shots (among others) as well as most of the photos from within the canoe, plus some kick ass landscape shots.
Gorgeous! Coming back to the city must have been jarring.
