Way to go Walmart…Not.

I finally got to speak with my dear friend Jane yesterday who is bunking down with her family in a small motel in Baton Rouge. Her mom, who has got to be one of the top 10 moms in the entire universe, works for Wal-Mart. Jane works for the local cable company. When we discussed her coming up to stay for a while, I added, “I’ll introduce you to the gal at the temp agency we use for work.” She said that was good, but that her company (Good on ya, Cox) is continuing to pay their New Orleans employees until the are able to get back to work, or at least for the next couple of months.

I asked her if her mom’s employer, the behemoth mondomega corporation Wal-Mart would be doing the same, she said, “No”.

I’m giving you the dirty look Wal-Mart. Yes you. I know you know better. Shame on you.

Dropped ball: 1
Wal-Mart: 0

I have purchased exactly ONE item from WalMart, and I have regretted it since.

/Take a look at some of their anti-employee practices, including shutting down all butcher and deli operations when the employees there decided to unionize – Sleazy, sleazy, sleazy! Buy at Costco instead.

I’m no fan of Wal-Mart but the fact that they were in there with aid before even the government had their shit together does stand for something in my book.

I hadn’t heard that they weren’t paying employees at all.
