On Strike? I think?

I was driving to work this morning and had only gotten about a block from my house when I found myself face to face with a giant (of the 20 – 30 foot variety) inflatable rat perched atop a car. A man stood next to his car, which was in front of a construction site. Strike? I’m pretty sure, but he didn’t have a sign or a picket board of any sort.

The rat was pretty persuasive, but it would help if I knew what I was being persuaded of.

If anyone else knows, the construction site is that old abandoned parking lot on the corner of Damen and Belmont, right in front of where that sinking pothole used to be that Jennifer wrote about.

I couldn’t tell you exactly which Local it was, or anything like that, but I can tell you in general. They bring out the Rat, typically, when a construction site is using scab labor. The building trades have a ton that going on, and the Locals mostly just do informational pickets to (in my opinion, and I think yours) do a really lousy job of informing the public.
