Annals of Religious Tolerance: Wheaton Professor Fired for Not Being O.G. Enough

From the Sun-Times:
“A former Wheaton College professor who was fired because he converted to Catholicism found himself this week at the center of a debate about diversity and theological perspectives in private, faith-based schools.

Faculty members at the west suburban evangelical Protestant college must sign a faith statement that the Bible is the final authority. Catholics follow the authority of Scripture and the pope.”

I’m not fond of popes in general and not fond at all in particular of the current one or his immediate predecessor, most especially not fond of the type of “wisdom” with regard to birth control and homosexuallity which they have chosen to bless the modern world

That said, I think many Protestant evangelicals would have a hard time finding a solid scriptural foundation for some of their key beliefs. The concept of the “rapture”, for example — a comfortable myth invented and popularized by Protestant biblical “scholars” who I think most people would probably judge to be somewhat less thoughtful than the average pope.
