Lupe Fiasco: Chicago Rapper On the Way to the Big Time

Chi-Town rapper Lupe Fiasco, who gained some fame from a guest spot on Kanye’s track “Touch the Sky” (which featured the hook from fellow-Chicagoan and musical genius, the late, great Curtis Mayfield) appears on the cover of The Fader to promote his forthcoming debut record, “Food & Liquor.”

But even better, especially for those with little patience, The Fader provides the link to download Lupe’s latest mixtape- “Fahrenheit 1/15: Revenge of the Nerds,” in its entirety, FOR FREE! Check out The Fader post linked above for the link to the tracks. I downloaded it last night and there’s some good stuff there- from raps over beats from tunes by Kanye, The Game and De La Soul, to a crazy Lupe-meets-Pink-Floyd jam. Yes, Pink Floyd meets hip-hop and the result is cool.

Check out Lupe’s MySpace page and his website to learn more.
