CTA: Always a step away from stupid

There was a day – a long, long time ago, when I lauded the CTA and praised the wonderful public transportation system that we have in Chicago, but that day is long since gone. Oh, CTA. You never cease to amaze me. Every time I think you’ve reached your pinnacle of inefficient and counter-intuitive behavior, you outdo yourself.

Despite the budget woes and increasingly rising fares, the CTA has managed to squeeze out a couple information screens that they are testing at the Jackson station. Unfortunately, they seem to be ignoring the system, as there are Windows error messages everywhere. Accoring to a commenter on the CTA Tattler story, the error messages have been there for about a week.

Hey, CTA – A couple of thoughts. When you install a new technology, there are 2 simple steps you should follow.

1. Test
2. Maintain

Sounds easy, right?
