Kill Hannah Clarity

Not to make this KHblogging or anything, but I thought I’d offer a couple things so you can decide if you like the Kill Hannah, or if you HATE HATE HATE.

All Music review of the first disc. And they have a new tune on their myspace page. myspace.com/killhannah. So if you like it, you will like the show because THEY ARE GOOD (though not to the taste of Tankboy).

And they are great guys and they deserve a stupid link up in here. If I started bashing all the crap I hate, well. I guess I could do that.

    a) Sorry about the gender confusion…since we’ve never met it was an honest mistake.

    b) My follow-up was more to sort of address the fact that you didn’t say anything about Kill Hannah in your first post other than “to see them.”

    c) I don’t really write about bands “just to bash them.” In fact I try to keep it positive on this particular site. In this case, though, the blind invitation just inspired a more detailed follow-up from me.

    d) I know they’re not a cover band. That was a joke.

    e) I don’t hate the boys (though I can’t really call Mat a boy since I’ve known him for over ten years, which makes him my age, which def makes him NOT a boy), I’m just not a fan of their tunes. I have written extensively on this in the past so feel free to drop me a line and I’ll send you the links.

    f) Ask Lauren, I ain’t all about the HATE HATE HATE…actually I’m a big fan of pretty much all music. I just like to keep things in perspective though.

Sheesh Morgen, EVERYBODY knows the only officially-sanctioned hipster event on Tuesdays is Tankboy and Rudy at Pontiac! Get with the program. When in doubt, consult your Little Red Book of Tankboy-sanctioned artists.

Tankboy, give the guy a break already. If you required more information as to why Morgen was recommending Hannah, a simple inquiry would have sufficed. Was Morgen’s endorsement a well-written and well-thought out post? Not really. But did it deserve your sneering condescension? Again, not really. If you’re trying to be the next Peter Margasak, keep it up, you came off like a real jerk.

Tankboy is a great supporter of Chicago original music. He’s one of the few people in this city who really does support original bands by organizing events, shows and DJ nights for their music. Kill Hannah seems to evoke some real hate in people, myself included. Why is that? I’ve seen many of their shows and have owned 2 of their CDs yet I really don’t think they’re very good. They’re very hard workers on the street, that much is for sure. They should spend that much time trying to write better tunes though. How much longer are they gonna milk that awful Kennedy song already?

I bash for the sake of hoping someone sees it before they get exposed to the mindless shit that bands like Kill Hannah ooze from their injecto-needle-claw and shoot into an innocent music listener. Kill Hannah is the reason people make fun of Chicago music scene. I belive there are some great bands in Chicago but if we allow eyeliner-wearing tools like KH are to represent the city, we get what we deserve. Shitty band, nice guys…maybe, I don’t know, regardless SHITTY, SHITTY band!

It’s a little lame when this site is used just to promote without making a full post about it. Saying, Go See Kill Hannah, is like saying, Go To McDonalds. Let’s face it, the band has little or no talent, had one or two slightly catchy tunes that have kept them together. There is so much more out there as far a quality artists, coming and going every week. Seeing a headline to go see a band without writing about the reasons to go see them is rather pathetic.

Since the band has been pretty well bashed to pieces here, I think it would be only fair for someone to actually attend and review the show, or barring, that, contact the KH crew and let them respond to their critics. Any takers?
