Damn you, Billy Goat!

Derrek Lee, the Cubs’ 1st baseman/leader/batting champ/most important guy on the team, broke his wrist the other night and is projected to be out of commission for at least 2-3 months. Oye. Just when some people were starting to believe that this team was capable of good things this year, bad luck slams the door shut. I heard on the radio yesterday that the Cubs have the best DL in the league…Prior…Wood…and now Lee.

I still have hope though. This year’s team is more balanced and baseball-ready than in years past. Plus, we’re supposed to get our main pitchers back sometime over the next month. We’ll see. Right now though, it’s a dark day in the bleachers.

Mine too. And to think that someone proposed a trade to me for him…and days later he breaks his wrist.
