Lake Path Etiquette
Speaking of the Lakefront Bike Path, early in my trip in this morning this guy passed me and I decided to use him as a pacer, so I started following him and ended up tailing him all the way to my turn-off for work. From a biking perspective it was a great success for me — with no one to pace me, I get a little lazy and tend not to push myself — following this guy I upped my average moving speed by nearly 2 miles/hour and shaved 5 minutes off my commute. Of course, I did wonder about the etiquette of it all. Is it rude to follow someone on the bike path? Is it just to be expected — I mean, I was going that way, he was going that way, we’re all going that way? I’ll point out that I wasn’t drafting or anything, I was maintaining a safe distance (which was good when that garbage truck came out of nowhere and we all had to wildly brake (yes, a garbage truck came out of nowhere on the bike path)).
And even if it is OK, does taking a picture of the guy because you’re thinking about blogging about the question make it all creepy? (I have a feeling I know the answer to the last question.)
Oh Fuzzy…
if a blog falls in a forest, will anyone comment on it?
