Indie Rock Heaven

It won’t be hard to find articles and previews galore surrounding this weekend’s Pitchfork Music Festival. Just open a newspaper, or click the link of your favorite blog or webzine. It will however be hard to find a ticket. According to the website both days are now sold out! And rightfully so. I’ve seen my fair share of music in my time but never have I seen a single Indie Rock lineup in one place such as this. Have you?

41 artists on three stages over two days and I couldn’t tell you which ones to miss. Hopefully every act brings their best. Here are several that I find most interesting:

The Futureheads They will blow you away with their super-tight style of play and harmonizing lyrics.

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists Ted and the band give everything they’ve got, and then some.

Tapes ‘n Tapes Get there early as they’re the first act on Sunday. Worth the hype, have the songs to back it up.

Man Man I’ve never seen these guys. Whoops, wails, hollers, instrument swapping, playing two trombones at the same time. I’m in.

The Walkmen I’m the only one around enjoying their new CD more than the last. The Rat is one song that is sure to bring the house (or field) down!

Art Brut A Punk show with a more than a hint of very fun Lounge.

Mission Of Burma A Punk legend of sorts, loud and fast, gripping and intense.

If you’re going to the fest, be sure to say hi to some of us Metro Bloggers. Seems we’ll be there in force.

I think you have summed it up pretty well. I’m a long time Yo La Tengo fan so I’ll be up front for them.

You were right about most of that. Yo La Tengo really tore it up.
