On Politics
On 9/10 issues, I agree with Nikkos. I think posting a comment saying “Damn right buddy!” is a waste of time, and he usually beats me to the punch on a number of Chicago-area political events (except for county things…but let’s be honest: nobody pays attention to the county). Now there is a major political event coming up in a month–Election Day–and given the political environment, I want to bring everyone’s attention to it.
First and foremost: Vote. I don’t care if you’re liberal, conservative, Democrat or Republican. Vote. If you chose not to participate in the process then you limit your own political voice. So where do you go vote? This website has all the deets for Chicago Area Voters. Our suburban friends have other resources.
Secondly, I am sick and tired of negative ads. I want issues and facts, not a discussion of who is more like George Ryan. Granted, these days its hard to even find common ground for political debate, but these ads do not contribute to the process. Who else is tired of these bullshit ads?
Finally, I am fed up with the so-called progressives in Illinois. I’m done with the Dems. This year, I’m going Green. Actually I’m also sick of the term progressive. I’m a bleeding heart liberal, I have been since my first anti-death penalty debate in grade school, and I don’t see why liberal should be such a dirty word–but I digress. I want to hear about your political views, even if I disagree with them.
See, I don’t care one way or another if you agree with my views. I do want you to care enough about your community to vote. Remember, we’ve got one month left until the election. It is not too early to start thinking about the issues you care about and find the candidates who best represent your ideas. It also isn’t too early to set aside some time on Nov. 7 and schedule when you will go and vote.
I agree – VOTE! If you don’t vote, you can’t bitch.
I’m definitely with. This election is a hard one to vote in. At least in the state of Illinois County of Cook.
