Local Theater, National Politics and Bluegrass
Last night I went to Democracy Burlesque’s October show, “Condi-ween.” I’ll be honest, I didn’t laugh the entire time I was there. I thought the funniest joke was written by my pal who said, “Condi should wear Prada, because that’s what the Devil wears.” However, this was socially aware theater, so the skits were only a portion of the night’s activities.
This month’s show was a fund-raiser for a trip to rebuild houses in New Orleans–and it featured the music of Donna Adler, dancing by Perceptual Motion and two scenes from other local plays: Ground Up Theatre’s Burn This and Raven Theatre’s The Exonerated.
I’m not a theatre person, but, The Exonerated was poignant and moving. This is a play that I will definitely see.
There was lot of material packed into 2 hours. If you’re into politically minded theater (theatre?), and you have a free tuesday night, I think you should check ’em out.
Of course, I have another reason for recommending this show: If you see Democracy Burlesque, go next door to the Redline Tap afterward. The beer was cheap and the Blue Grass band they featured, Sex Fist was kick-ass. Sex Fist is going to be playing at the Redline Tap for a while, so do yourself a favor and check them out.
First off, I’ll assume that you mean Prada, not Pranda.
Secondly, why do you think it’s funny to imply that Condoleeza Rice is the devil? It’s one thing to not agree with her, but I’m just curious what she’s done to garner comparisons to Satan.
Perhaps you can enlighten me.
BTW, as you seem to be a respectful person, I’m not sure why you want to start lowering yourself to the Nikkos/Danny Doom level of constant insults and name calling.
I don’t have the time or the interest but I’m sure you can go back to all of your comments that you’ve posted on this site, Jojo, and see a rash of insults and name-calling. Oh well…
Also, it is quite clear that this post by Officer Gleason is not lowering itself to insults and name-calling either, he didn’t even laugh once at the show!
If you do get the time and interest, we can display all the insults from myself, Nikkos and yourself. I GUARANTEE that there are a lot more from the two of you.
Yes, as for Officer Gleason, I did misspeak. He is certainly not using insults or name-calling. I should have said supporting the comparison of C. Rice to Lucifer. I hope I did not offend the Officer, as I enjoy his calm and reasonable posts and do hope they continue.
JoJo why are you so obsessed with nikkos?
Anon-
I’m not.
