The most wonderful time of the year

Regardless of what’s going on politically in our crazy town, I know the mayor and I can always agree on one thing: Halloween rocks. Today marks the beginning of Chicagoween, with the haunted village at Pumpkin (Daley) Plaza, featuring pumpkin decorating, mask making, storytelling and all sorts of spooky doings. The State Street Halloween Parade is next Saturday (October 21) at noon, you can take a ride on the haunted “L” on the next couple of Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and there are more activities all over the city.

Want something a bit scarier? Check out the many local haunted houses (not to mention haunted prisons and sanitariums).

And finally, one of the coolest Halloween events (in my humble opinion) takes place this weekend: the Music Box Massacre, a 24 hour horror movie marathon at the Music Box Theatre on Southport.

Happy Friday the 13th, everyone.
