“Oh why, oh why would I want to be anywhere else?”*

If you’re looking for something to do tonight, I highly recommend checking out the Lily Allen gig at Double Door (9 p.m., $12). While her album doesn’t come out in the States until January, you can check out her sound on her myspace page. It’s a mix of Streets-style spoken word and pop sensibility, tinged with a Caribbean feel – music that makes it impossible to keep still. Even the usually stoic Chicago crowd should be bopping their heads tonight.

*Lily Allen, LDN (a song that became a summer anthem for me).

It’s a pretty cool CD, and certainly got me going more than the last dud from the Streets. But, I do believe the show is sold out! You can check it out with the Double Door if in doubt. Even though she has limited material, her short show should be packed with good stuff!

The Double Door website didn’t say it was sold out, but it may well be.

We got our tickets months ago — say hi if you’re at the show.
