I owe ComEd a (mental) apology
Our power went out this morning (at first it just went down to about 75% power and, since I just had the LASIK, the dim lights made me think my eyes were failing — that was a fun few minutes of panic). I called ComEd’s automated report-an-outage and it said they already knew about it and it would be fixed by 11:45. The upstairs neighbor and I checked in with each other and scoffed. But it was we should be scoffed at — ComEd got the power back on a full hour ahead of their estimate. Thanks, ComEd workers, for coming out on a cold Sunday morning and replacing that transformer so efficiently.
(OK, I couldn’t make it this far without complaining about something — if you call ComEd’s main office number after-hours the message tells you that the office is closed but that representatives are available for outages and emergencies. And then it hangs up on you. So you have to go root out an old bill to find that the number you want is 1-800-EDISON-1 (1-800-334-7661). I suppose I should write that down somewhere.)
