Elk
If growing up in a variety of midwestern and eastern suburbs taught me anything, it was that if a city or sub-division name referenced a natural feature, you were pretty much guaranteed not to find that natural feature present. That is, there were no foxes in Fox Run and neither deer nor fields in Deerfield. So I was surprised on a recent trip out to the Streets of Woodfield Mall (no woods, no fields, and nothing I’d really call a street, either) to see that there’s a small herd of elk in Elk Grove Village, safely behind a fence in the Busse Woods Forest Preserve.
can you tell me where the elk are? I want to see them!
The elk are in the Busse Woods Forest Preserve, at the corner of S Arlington Heights Rd and E Higggins Rd (72) in Elk Grove Village.
