Want to do something bookish this week?Here are a few cool things going on around the city:Tonight (5/14) at 7pm at Red Lion Pub (2446 N Lincoln) is another installment of the Twilight Tales, a darker reading series for those interested in horror, science fiction, and fantasy.On Wednesday 5/16 at 7pm, Chuck Palahniuk will be reading from his new book, RANT, at the Michigan Avenue Borders (830 N. Michigan).On Friday 5/18 at 7:30 pm, Women & Children First is hosting Barbara Kingsolver and her husband, fellow writer Steven L. Hopp, at the Swedish American Museum (5211 N. Clark). They’re going to talk about their new memoir ANIMAL, VEGETABLE, MIRACLE: A YEAR IN FOOD LIFE that chronicles their year of eating only locally produced food. You must have a ticket to attend. (Their website is a little unclear on how to get a ticket, other than noting you get free admission with book purchase of $26.50). I’d call them: 773.769.9299.On Saturday 5/19 at 2pm, the Near North branch of the Chicago Public Library (310 W. Division) will host Karen Hanson. She just wrote TODAY’S CHICAGO BLUES and will speak about the great places around Chi-town to see some amazing blues music.
