Mass AT&T outages

Don’t know how many of you are affected, but my office has multiple locations throughout Chicago, and all our internet and phone lines have been down for about an hour. AT&T claims it’s city-wide. Anyone else having an outage and stealing a neighbor’s wireless? Get over an outage?

It’s out at my wife’s office downtown. Still down, as far as I know.

I work for a Huge Telecom provider in the city, there was a Mass Outage, all of our customers were down. Still no update but seems to be ATT related. Phones, Internet, & Cell phones affected. FYI, I work at the Telecom provider and we can’t even reach ATT right now and it’s been about 2 hours. Things are not looking good

I have experienced the Mass Outage with at least three vendors: XO Communications, Global-Com and AT&T. All our Chicago land area businesses were disconnected from each other (T1s) and Global-Com’s phone service was down but XO’s phone service seemed OK. I could not get a hold of either Global-Com or XO. I kept getting an “All circuits are busy message.” The funny thing was that although sometimes our internal communications were working (VPNs) we still have no access to the Internet. At least two of my companies were always connected – one in Arlington Heights and another one in Des Plaines. I guess they were connected but isolated from the rest of the world.

Today the problem seems to have gone away.

When I left work at 5:30 pm yesterday, we were still without phones or internet, though they both would flicker to life for a minute or two at a time.

I’m back in the ‘burbs with Comcast now!

An AT&T serviceman came to my apartment building and looked at the box in the basement. But he said the problem is in my apartment. AT&T charges you a flat fee of $71 the moment they step into your apartment. So I told him, “Cancel my service.” That’s my way of fixing the problem.

Our phones are down for almost two hours in Downtown Chicago. We use Globalcom aith AT&T as a backup. No news anywhere and cannot get thru to provider.

We’re in Westchester and have T-1 through Globalcom and have had almost daily problems since 6/1. Monday 7/23 we had no phones from 11AM-3:15PM. Monday 7/30 we had no phones from 3:15PM – ?? Couldn’t reach Globalcom – all circuit busy message – left at 5 and unsure when service was restored. Today seems to be ok. Anyone know what’s going on.
