Movin’ on up

I am moving in about a month, and am planning on doing an overhaul in the way that I hemmorhage money.  So, I am looking for a new high speed internet provider and a satellite TV provider.  I hate Comcast more than lima beans, and would rather eat my hand than stick with them.  Any suggestions?

We’ve always used earthlink and they’re pretty good – almost never down. You have to go to their website to find out if they have coverage in your area. Also, not sure if there are any specials that the are running. Good luck!

Speakeasy. Relatively cheep, but excellent tech support, and you can do pretty much anything you want with the service.

I’ve been using SBC Yahoo for a while now – I’ve never had any connectivity issues, and the bill gets combined w/ your phone bill. They[re only 26.95 a month. For satellite TV, I’m a DirecTV fan… and now, if you sign up new, you can get a DVR (like TIVO).

DSL runs on a landline, but technically doesn’t require you to have a voice landline (it’s a separate run). However, distance from the nearest SBC central switching office is key — my mom’s technically in spec but not really, and she’s been down more than up since putting it in a few months ago.
Not sure what your beef with comcast is — I’ve had them for a long time and never even had single service interruption…
