Moz, Pixies cancel summer trip to town

I haven’t gone to Lollapalooza in 10 years.  And that makes me feel old and mad.  What makes me even more mad is the fact that I thought I would be able to reclaim my youth and attend the two day festival this year.  How could you pass up a line up with Morrissey, Sonic Youth, Modest Mouse, The Pixies, & Wilco?  It was like heaven was making a brief stop in Tinley Park.

Unfortunately, all the lazy, old hip kids like me procrastinated about buying tickets (I WAS going to get them this weekend), and the promoters decided to cancel the show rather than face major losses. [ read the whole dealie here ]

The good news is, at least Modest Mouse and Pixies will make their way back around, flying solo.  So you will have to pony up some extra cash.

Modest Mouse – July 31st @ The Rave / Eagle’s Club, Milwaukee
The Pixies – November 13 – 16 @ The Aragon

The Pixies is sold out (duh).  I got my tickets to the opening night (yay!), and have seen a few on craigslist if you are hurting for some of your own.

Thats a shame but what the hell, the days of the cool music festival are so over. The times have changed and there is too much liability to consider and too much money at stake when you put more than 2 big bands on a bill. I doubt we’ll see Woodstock again either and I think even Ozzfest is teetering on the brink of extinction.
