I used to go to Lehman’s Sports Club on a regular basis when I lived in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. I haven’t been there in a couple of years since we moved to the Bucktown neighborhood, but I really liked working out there. The management was a bit cheap and the equipment could have been maintained better, but the class schedule was huge and the group fitness instructors were wonderful.
I just found out that the gym is closing after almost 35 years. Apparently, the owners of the gym (known for their cheapness) accepted an offer from a condo developer. I guess everyone has their price. It’s a shame because it was a nice neighborhood gym and it was the total opposite of Bally’s (right across the street).
