Just like my bio says…

I attempted to enter the city of Chicago on Wednesday. I was scheduled to give a presentation at the Palmer House at 2:45 PM. I left my home in Highland Park at 1:30 PM.
The Edens was backed up almost the entire length in, and the Kennedy was no great shakes. I arrived at the Palmer House at 2:40 PM. Thankfully, they offered valet parking (a surprisingly cheap $21 for three hours) so I started my presentation on time.
Late at night, I can do the reverse drive in

Stop whining and take public transportation.

Ok, I totally walked into that one, huh.
I am a huge advocate of public transportation, and normally that would be the plan in going downtown. Mid-day METRA schedule isn’t actually all that great — once an hour — but you are all correct… in this case, I could have left Lake-Cook Road at 1:18 PM (meaning 1:05 PM from the house). A cost of 30 minutes more but a lot less stress.
Next time, I’ll be on the train ;)
