Damn you toll roads!!!

The toll increase is officially set to go into effect January 1st and the Illinois Toll Road has posted HIGHLY legible signs on the tollbooths at the Edens spur. Notification signs are located directly below the change basket, making it nearly impossible to read if your car has, oh I don’t know, DOORS?!?? But the increase is still only in effect if you are one of the majority of drivers that doesn’t have an I-Pass. Rates will stay the same for I-Pass users.

I am guessing this is a passive-agressive way to push I-Pass like crack. Maybe? Yes, just maybe.

You can view a complete list of the new tolls here.

In other pocket-emptying driving news, they Skyway toll is being raised as well, from $2.00 to $2.50. All the more reason to stay out of Indiana.

I had to drive out to the suburbs this weekend and Road Crew A, in charge of taking all the old prices down, has done a cracker-jack job and seems to be completely done. Road Crew B, who will put up the new prices, can’t get started until Jan. 1, I assume. So for the next few weeks anyone not intimately familiar with the toll prices will have to do the same frantic last-minute change scrabble at the toll-booth that I had to do.

I totally noticed thison Saturday too! I drove out to Barrington for my brother’s swim meet, and all of the prices were taken down at the 90 / O’Hare toll plaza.

Which is awesome, because no one travels during the holidays. Ever. Most people don’t even know what a car is.
