Drinking Liberally: “Promoting Democracy One Pint at a Time”
My first post, and it combines three faves: politics, booze and Chi City!
Every Wednesday night, from 8:30-?, the Chi chapter of a national org calling itself “Drinking Liberally” meets on the 2nd floor of the Red Lion (2446 N. Lincoln) for drinkin’ and politickin’. Check out their site, drinkingliberally.org, for their manifesto and more info.
As the old saying goes, I belong to no organized political party- I’m a Democrat. But there’s a sliver of hope that if Dems can organize a pub crawl we may just take back the White House someday. If you recall, Bush was an alky til he found Jesus. So, on top of (1) a good excuse to drink on a Wed. nite, (2) an opp. to meet and perhaps seduce a fellow left-leaning Chicagoan we also have (3) the potential that the next POTUS could be one of the boozehounds in attendance.
Oh, and the SOTU is tomorrow night too, somebody needs to come up with a drinking game for the occasion.
i was _JUST_TELLING_ lauren about the red lion! that place is totally haunted!
Yikes! That’s creepy as shit. Maybe the ghost of old man Daley could be summoned to provide some pointers on how to win, or failing that, steal, an election.
