Once Meigs Field…now Meigs Ampitheater?

Looks like it. According to the Sun Times, Clear Channel has outbid Jam Productions on a deal to build a 10,000 seat music venue on Northerly Island, site of the now-defunct Meigs Field.

I’m all for a music venue on the lakefront. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen was Radiohead at Hutchinson Field in Grant Park in 2001. With the clear evening sky, the full moon and the city skyline in full view, it was a beautiful night of great music by an outstanding band.

I’m just wondering at what point will Daley turn and bring in the bulldozers…

actually, now that i think about it, how will this new venue compare to the pavilion in millenium park? is it possible to have too many venues near the lake? add in the skyline stage, and we’ve got ourselves a brawl. it’ll be interesting to see how they all exist side by side.

Sounds good if you ask me. How do we get tickets to concerts at this new venue?
