Award-winning author Neil Gaiman, now a U of C fellow

The Chicago Maroon announced in its Tuesday, 8 March print edition that author Neil Gaiman is going to be the University of Chicago’s second fellow in their Fellows in the Arts Program. Part of that gig means he’ll be at Court Theatre on Tuesday, 19 April, In conversation with Gretchen Helfrich.

As a drooling Gaiman fangirl — although I admit that, a couple of summers ago when he was at the Printer’s Row Book Fair to read The Wolves in the Walls, I didn’t stand in line after the reading to get anything signed (partly because I feared the other drooling fangirls), so maybe I’m only an apprentice drooling fangirl — and a U of C employee, I’m feeling pretty excited about this. He’s totally going to be in my back yard! Or, at least, across the quads from me! And I’m not afraid to fight undergrads if that’s what it takes to get a seat. But they have a couple weeks yet to buff up, as the mad scramble for tickets won’t begin until 28th March.

oooh i love him…. :) a few years ago before i was even living here, i drove up to chicago just to see neil gaiman at the vic for the last angel tour. i even shelled out the big bucks for the CBLDF pre-show cocktail hour, and i got to meet him. he was very polite and down to earth, and drew a picture of the sandman in my copy of the kindly ones. :)
