Blago does it for the ladies

Gov. Blagojevich filed an emergency rule today which requires “pharmacies that sell contraceptives to fill prescriptions for birth control quickly”. This is in light of the recent events in which pharmacists decided they wanted to have 50 bajillion babies and pretty young things must be as fertile as possible. Or, a pharmacy that refused to fill perscriptions for birth control. Whatever. Almost the same thing.

This is awesome, especially considering that private insurance must cover contraceptives in Illinois. It’s the law, not just a polite suggestion. I guess that makes Illinois progressive in terms of a woman’s right to birth control. Just not as progressive as Sweden.
