Metroblogging is not an events listsing

But Upcoming.org is. At it looks to be the mother of all events listings. You can check out upcoming events in the Chicago Metro area, see who is attending the same events as you, get recommendations based on your events, syndicate the events listing, and even add them to your calendar. As a bonus, since tagging is the new blogging, you can view events by tags. It’s kinda like Metromix meets Friendster meets Technorati meets MeetUp.

Have any of you ever met other people with Upcoming? Were they weird?

I haven’t used it for that yet, but, what’s great about this service is that it has a web calendar that you can use with lots of Personal Management software (iCal for me). Just load it into your calendar, and the software will update when the sight refreshes. Very cool.
