Crazy Kids stave off sickness for recognition

perfectattendance.jpg How many times did you miss a day of school when you were younger? I don’t even think I could count. This is mostly due to the fact that I was accident prone, had a crappy immune system, and really liked to ditch.

6 Chicago students have never (as in, never ever EVER) missed a day of school. IN 12 YEARS! Not one. That is a logistical impossibility in my head. One of my favorite things to do was ditch school as soon as it turned nice and hang out outside for a day. It was ritualistic, and one of the most liberating things when I was a kid. So this just makes absolutely no sense to me.

In the article, one of the students says that “he saves being sick for weekends and vacations”. That is so responsible and mature. I totally don’t get it.
