As a frequent visitor to the city, I always try to avoid using cabs. But sometimes, navigating the CTA can be a tricky proposition, and it’s necessary to ride the yellow limousine. Just this last weekend, I ended up spending $30.00 on cab fare, and a couple weeks back, it was probably twice that much. Guess you have to pay if you want the convenience.
The other problem I have with the fare hike is the fact that 90% of the cab drivers in this city are completely clueless- they ask for directions every. single. time. I get in a cab. I had read they were going to be cracking down on that as part of the fare hike, but that definitely hasnt’ been my experience. I don’t mind paying a lot for good cab drivers, but they’re few and far between, in my experience.
i live on the west side and a cab ride from, say, wicker park to my place used to be about thriteen buckes. now, it’s closer to twenty.
ouch!
i’m addicted to taking cabs, as expensive as they may be. call me lazy, but sometimes its worth the $15-20 to get where i’m goin a lot sooner.
