Chicago, land of “food that’s really bad for you” and “strange conventions” brings us some of both this week.

The “All Candy Expo” features the banning all kids on the show floor. No Jelly Belly Sport Beans for you little kiddies!!!!! Good to see Haribo, Big Hunk, and Chick-o-stick are sponsoring…

and the Chicago Pizza Expo, where you can “Mix Up Dough Like a Pro.” Jeez. Maybe they can also teach me how to be cool by staying in school.

Both of the sites have pretty awesome favicons BTW.

The great thing about the ALL CANDY EXPO® is that they used to allow kids on the floor… for ONE CRUMMY HOUR. At the END OF THE EXPO. And the poor kids were subjected to a 15-minute “children’s briefing” before admission. So this one measly crumb of happiness has been taken away from the kids.

Perhaps next year, the expo attendees will rub it in even further by going around to various local schools and eating candy in front of the kids. And then, when the kids cry for candy, they’ll give them salt licks.
