Not to toot my own horn but…aw forget it, I’m tootin’ away!
When I’m not rubbing shoulders with the literary greats that also post to this site, I put together rock and /or roll shows in my spare time. I love every bill I put together, but sometimes even I outdo myself. Tonight is one of those times.
If you’re looking for rock and/or roll you can dance to, then the Elbo Room is the place to be tonight. The Ladies & Gentlemen, The Assembly and The Idle Hands mash up all sorts of Brit and New Wave influences that make all the little girlies scream. Cisco Pike weaves shoegazer pop laced with lead singer pat McIntyre’s sweet tenor and spiked by Scott Lucas’ slicing guitar. Textbook take the ghost of Uncle Tupelo, inject it with a Superchunk-ian dose of pop-punk (not punk-pop) fury and deliver like a live wire to the temple.
In other words, it should be a good show. You can see set-times here.
P.S. The Redwalls are also playing in town tonight, and they’re nice guys and all, but who really wants to watch a warmed over Beatles tribute act?
I like Pat and Cisco Pike, but want to check out the Redwalls to see what it’s all about. Then I can either hug them or drop them.
i so so so wanna see this show tonight but i can’t! i promised pistil i’d take pictures at their party. say hi to skid for me and start booking another show with them so i can see them next time?
