Chicago Drivers

Chicago drivers need to pay attention.

Over the past few weeks and months a lot of my fellow bloggers have been posting about extremely obnoxious driving behavior. Just check here, here and here for a quick review. I bring this up simple due to the 2 serious accidents that have occurred this week.

On Monday, I was driving on the Stevenson (I-55) and I exited first avenue north. A Mack Truck carrying gravel from a local quarry is on his cell phone, doesn’t check his blind spot and smacks right into my driver’s side. The guy had the nerve to tell the police that I swerved into him.

Worse, on Friday a buddy of mine is riding is bike–following all the rules of the road I should add–while an SUV is driving like a bat out of hell through an alley. He brakes quick–since the SUV Doesn’t see him–and he ends up flipping over his handlebars. Another SUV driving like he’s chasing someone doesn’t see him. He starts to drive over my buddy–the only thing that saved his life was the blood-curdling scream he yelped when the tires hit his chest.

Seriously people, pay attention.

You really have to be a moron to drive more than 25 mph in Chicago’s streets. Even if you could safely manage the street traffic, which you can’t, you’ll have to stop in 100 yards anyway.

If one more moron bicyclist swerves in front of my car on a street that has no room for them, I’m going to run them down on purpose and put their skull on my hood as a warning to all the other idiot cyclists: IF YOU BLOCK THE SMOOTH FLOW OF TRAFFIC ON THE CITY STREETS, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG!

First of all CD, Bicycles are vehichles according to state law–meaning they have rights to be on the road in in the first place. Secondly, it typically isn’t a bike that interupts the flow of traffic (where in chicago is there smooth traffic?) it’s aggressive moron’s with overpriced gas guzzling SUVs.

Lincoln Avenue was totally blocked by aggressive law breaking bikers, 200 or more, blocking intersections, slowing traffic, flying between cars on the wrong side of the street. My husband was just trying to get home – I was ill and we had people intentionally blocking our car from making a turn by leaning on the front end. We’re old and these young punks did not have the right to do this.
Stay off main streets except for those with bike lanes. And if you don’t obey the law, get ticketed.
